A must have plant!

‘Eternal Fragrance’ is an awarding winning Daphne suitable for a variety of garden applications. You will be rewarded with sweetly fragrant flowers on the deep green to fresh lime foliage on repeated occasions throughout the year. First flush in late Winter and then in early summer and again in Autumn. Unlike other Daphnes, ‘Eternal Fragrance’ will thrive in a full sun position but will also perform in semi shade. A truly outstanding garden and pot performer, proven by over 30 years of development with results that speak for themselves.

  • Sun tolerant
  • Withstands heat and dry conditions
  • Repeat flowers with an exquisite perfume

During spring, 'Eternal Fragrance produces tight clusters of classic white flowers at the tips of its deep green foliage. The display doesn't end there however, with this variety continuing to spot flower repeatedly throughout the year. 'Eternal Fragrance' has an exquisite perfume. Daphne lovers will be familiar with the intoxicating fragrance of the common Daphne odora species and will be delighted with this new take on the daphne scent.

To top things off it is frost hardy, and both heat and dry tolerant. This Daphne performs in sunny sites without scorching. 'Eternal Fragrance' is also tolerant of both alkaline and acidic soils, unlike other daphnes which are traditionally pH sensitive. Plant it alongside its sister 'Spring Pink Eternal Fragrance' for a colour contrast when in bloom.

Care:  Daphne 'Eternal Fragrance' requires a sunny to a lightly shaded site in most soil types as long as it is well draining. Daphnes do not like to 'sit' in water which encourages root rot. 'Eternal Fragrance' is best grown in moist, fertile soils. For optimum results, lightly prune and feed in summer with a slow release fertiliser to maintain shape and vigour. Will tolerate both slightly alkaline to acid soils making this a truly unique daphne variety for the Australian environment. As the variety is semi-deciduous, the evergreen foliage may incur some leaf drop when subjected to very low temperatures but once the warmer weather arrives will flush with new foliage, covering any unsightliness. Conversely it has survived temperatures of up to 40°C in trials in Australia. CAUTION - Harmful if eaten. Skin/eye irritant.
