Crocus sativus

Produces lilac flowers with deep purple veins and orange-red saffron stigmas with are harvested for both cooking and as a dye.
Plant in full sun to part shade position in a well drained fertile soil.
Prepare your soil by digging well rotted manure a few weeks prior to planting your bulbs. At time of planting use a small amount of Blood and Bone and a complete fertiliser and top dress annually in summer.
Water regularly during flowering.
