A highly decorative tree, Flemings Jumbo Olive tree is a good bearer of Kalamata style olives that have good oil content.
The attractive fruit is larger than most olives, is medium green in colour ripening to deep purple/black in Autumn. The sweet fruit is well ideal for eating and preserving making it a very popular choice.
Slow to moderate growing, it is a great choice for growing in Tassie as it will still produce an abundance of fruit in our cool climate conditions.
As with all olive trees, it is drought tolerant once established. Mulch and water well during the first 12 weeks until the plant is established.
Sensational as a feature tree in the garden, they look equally fabulous in large pots or wine barrels and make an excellent hedge. Be sure to keep well watered over summer if growing in containers.
Plant in full sun out of strong wind. Prune after flowering to promote new growth.
