Compact evergreen shrub that flushes yellow green in the spring. Height 70cm. Red and orange autumn foliage. Best grown in lime free soil.
A.k.a the Japanese Sacred Bamboo, Nandina 'Moonby' is a non-invasive, dwarf shrub that forms a neat, round shape, making it ideal for cottage gardens and containers. Fine, red to golden foliage with small, fairly insignificant flowers followed by red berries in autumn. Foliage colour intensifies during winter or when grown in nutrient depleted soils. It has an upright, dense growth habit and is very hardy.
Prefers a part shade to full sun position. Tolerates most soils, but prefers soil with good drainage. Responds well to pruning and can be cut back quite hard. Fertilise in spring.
Perfect for low hedges, borders and rockeries. Very effective when mass planted. Great for oriental themed gardens, or to add a splash of colour right through the year with grgeous red, apricot, burgundy and lime leaves.
Plant in full sun - part shade in free draining soil. 70c m X 70cm.
