Banksia coccinea is a striking plant that dazzles with its scarlet flowers and velvety leaves.
This is a highly sought after Australian native plant as it's striking blooms make a magnificent cut flower.
Plant in sunny position in well drained acidic soil with a Low pH. Grows 2-4m H x 3-5m W. Flowering through spring & summer, it responds well to pruning and can be cut to keep to at a required height. For best flower production, prune in late Summer after flowers are finished.
As with all Banksia, these beautiful flowers are an important food source to bees. birds and other pollinators as they provide both pollen and nectar.
Drought and frost tolerant once established, Banksia will grow better if watered regularly in dry conditions.
