Anthurium andraeanum, commonly known as the Flamingo Flower, Flamingo Lily, Laceleaf or Tailflower, is a beautiful and extremely popular indoor plant prized for its glossy dark green foliage and striking, heart-shaped flowers.
Compact, colourful and easy to care for, it makes a stunning addition to homes, offices and other indoor spaces.
Anthuriums flower regularly throughout the year under the right conditions, producing long-lasting blooms held beautifully above the foliage. They prefer bright, indirect light for the best growth and flowering but will tolerate medium to lower light conditions. Avoid strong direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Water when approximately 50 - 70% of the potting mix has dried, watering thoroughly until excess water drains from the base of the pot. Always empty the saucer after watering to prevent the roots sitting in water. A free-draining orchid-style potting mix provides the aeration and drainage Anthuriums prefer.
Mature size: Approximately 30 - 60cm high × 30 - 60cm wide
Light: Bright to medium indirect light; tolerant of lower light
Water: Moderate; allow the potting mix to partially dry between watering
Soil: Free-draining orchid potting mix
Flowering: Long-lasting flowers produced throughout the year in suitable conditions
Caution: Harmful if eaten and may cause skin or eye irritation. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
