Camellia japonica 'Brushfield's Yellow' is one of the most sought-after flowering camellias, admired for its elegant blooms and glossy evergreen foliage. From autumn through to early spring, it produces stunning medium-sized flowers featuring a double centre of tightly ruffled pale primrose-yellow petals, beautifully framed by large antique white outer petals.

A hardy, long-lived shrub, 'Brushfield's Yellow' makes a spectacular feature plant and is equally effective as a flowering hedge, privacy screen or espalier. Its dense evergreen growth provides year-round interest while its blooms bring colour to the garden during the cooler months. The flowers are also attractive to birds and pollinators.

Camellias can be planted at any time of year, although late winter through spring is an ideal planting time. Choose a position with part shade and fertile, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Avoid adding lime, as camellias thrive in acidic conditions. Protect plants from harsh afternoon sun and strong winds for best flowering.

Keep the soil consistently moist, particularly during hot or dry weather. Apply compost and mulch around the base of the plant to help retain moisture and keep the shallow root system cool. Keep mulch clear of the trunk to prevent rot.

Lightly prune after flowering to maintain a neat shape and encourage dense, compact growth. Remove any dead, damaged or crossing branches as needed.

Whether you're creating a classic cottage garden, a formal hedge or an elegant feature planting, Camellia japonica 'Brushfield's Yellow' is a timeless favourite that will reward you with beautiful blooms and lush evergreen foliage for many years.

Feed in spring with a quality general purpose fertiliser and replenish in mid to late Summer as needed.

We recommend you use Debco Rose, Gardenia and Azalea Premium Potting Mix if planting in a container.
