Blueberry Vitality has a place in all gardens and outdoor spaces; being evergreen and growing 1m x 1m, it makes a perfect low hedge and a great productive pot plant.
Blueberries, apart from being delicious, have many fantastic health benefits; They are extremely high in antioxidants, have anti-inflammatory properties, can help to lower cholesterol, and it is also claimed that they improve motor skills, balance and coordination in elderly people.
Plant in free draining soil in full sun - part shade. If planting in a pot ensure you use a high quality acidic mix that will drain freely. Blueberry Vitality prefers a full sun to partly shaded position and is not bothered by frost; in fact overnight winter temperatures of below 5 degrees are required to promote flowering. Light pink flowers appear during winter followed by fruit from late spring through to summer.
When fruit is ripe, harvest and enjoy. An oversupply of fruit is very easily frozen for later use. When fruiting has finished prune back to half the size and fertilise with an acidic fertiliser.
