A beautiful compact citrus tree featuring striking green and cream variegated foliage and highly ornamental fruit. The young fruit displays attractive green striping before ripening to a rich orange, making this an eye-catching feature tree for Tasmanian gardens, courtyards and pots.

Growing to approximately 3m high x 3m wide with an upright habit, this evergreen citrus produces highly fragrant white flowers in spring followed by an abundance of small fruit that ripens during winter. The fruit has tart, sour flesh and a thin, sweeter skin, creating the distinctive sweet-tart flavour for which cumquats are loved.

Calamondin Cumquat fruit is excellent for preserves and marmalade and can also be used to add citrus flavour to drinks, desserts and savoury dishes, including South East Asian cuisine.

Plant in a sunny position with well-drained, improved soil and protection from cold winds. Avoid underplanting, as the tree does not appreciate root competition. Calamondin Variegated Cumquat is self-fertile, so only one tree is required for fruit production.

Well suited to Tasmania's cooler climate, this attractive citrus can be grown in the garden or a large container and may take up to two years to begin fruiting under good growing conditions.

When planted in a container - be sure to use a premium quality potting mix.
