Actinidia deliciosa
A.k.a. Chinese Gooseberry
Kiwifruit are both delicious and nutritious and grow on a large deciduous vine. In order to bear fruit it is necessary to have both male and female plants for cross pollination.
Your Kiwifruit will require a sturdy support that should be installed before planting the vines.
Plant in full sun to part shade position. Shelter from the wind to avoid damaging foliage and fruit.
Kiwifruit require a cold winter to encourage flower and fruit set. Regular watering during the warmer months will ensure good fruit production.
Fruit is harvested in Autumn when it is firm. Ripen fruit indoors at room temperature, or pop in a paper bag with an apple or banana to hasten the ripening process.
