Chilcottin is a late-season, high cropping raspberry - fruit can be harvested from December through late January.
Plant in full sun position in well draining, humus-rich soil, at 30cm spacings. Canes grow to 1.2m H x 20cm W. Ensure a good watering regime as the berries develop. Mulch around the base of the plant in early Spring.Once the plant has gone into its Winter dormancy, canes require pruning. Cut canes back lightly, 2cm - 5cm - this will encourage strong and healthy new growth - Chilcottins fruit on the previous season’s growth.
Raspberries require protection from extreme heat and damaging winds in periods of dry hot weather and require a cold Winter to encourage fruiting, so they're perfect for our Tassie gardens.
There's nothing quite as rewarding as enjoying your own healthy and delicious produce straight from the garden!
Supplied as bare root canes.
